“Code of The Savage”: Demo Now Available on Steam

Geoff Jones, the developer behind Code of The Savage, sent out an update to his mailing list last week with some welcome news: the game’s demo is now available on Steam. This is the demo he promised back in September, when he announced that the game would be taking part in October’s Steam Next Fest:

The Code of The Savage demo is now available on Steam! Download the demo on Steam and give it a go. Thanks for all your support. I hope you enjoy playing!

The timing works out nicely, since Next Fest kicked off yesterday and runs until October 26th.

Quick refresher for anyone who missed our earlier coverage: Code of The Savage is a dark-fantasy RPG inspired by Ultima 6 and Ultima 7. You play an escaped slave who washes ashore in chains on the island kingdom of Daneth, then carve your own path through a hand-crafted, non-linear world that would rather you discover its history than sit through a lore dump. The game was crowdfunded on Kickstarter back in 2018, published its Steam page in 2021 (with a stated December 2022 release date, which…well, these things happen), and became wishlistable on Steam again this past June. Along the way it has also gained bread baking, always an important feature in any Ultima 7 homage.

You can grab the demo from the game’s Steam page, and wishlist it while you’re there if you haven’t already. So…anyone else planning on checking it out during Next Fest?
