“Code of The Savage” Is Headed to October’s Steam Next Fest
Geoff Jones dropped a note into my inbox a little while ago with news that Code of The Savage, his long-running dark-fantasy RPG inspired by the likes of Ultima 6 and Ultima 7, will take part in October’s Steam Next Fest with a free playable demo.
I’ll let Geoff put it in his own words:
Code of The Savage will be taking part in October’s Steam Next Fest, with a free playable demo!
Explore Daneth, meet its inhabitants, and get a taste of the world I’ve spent ten years building.
I’m putting the finishing touches on the demo now. I’ll send another update when it’s available to download.
Steam Next Fest’s October 2026 edition runs October 19–26 (10:00 AM PDT to 10:00 AM PDT the following week), so the window is coming up fast. As of the time I’m writing this, Geoff is still polishing that demo build; when it goes live you’ll want to have Code of the Savage’s Steam page bookmarked (and the game itself wishlisted, if you haven’t done that already).
Quick refresher for anyone who missed our June post about Code of the Savage’s addition to Steam or the earlier Codex coverage: you wash ashore in chains on the island kingdom of Daneth after escaping a slave ship, then carve a path through a hand-crafted, non-linear world that rewards curiosity more than a lore dump. Geoff has been clear about the Ultima lineage — open-world exploration, dialogue, survival, dangerous encounters — and he has kept an itch.io demo iterating for folks who want an earlier taste while the Steam demo is in the works.
