Hot on the heels of the news that he had made progress getting the introductory sequence for the PC alpha build of Ultima Forever to work again, Cear Dragon has an even more impressive bit of news to share: he has successfully managed to get into the game world and play the game…at least somewhat.

The @UltimaForever reverse engineering project is moving much faster that I could have imagined. Special thanks to all of the @ultimadragons out there that have helped me. Especially @Fenyx4 and @canajunxyz. There is so much left to do before handling more players in the world state and trying to re-create a faithful server without an original copy still out there. What I really need now is video archives of original PC Alpha and iOS play sessions!

For now, we are in Britannia!

For now, at least, it looks as though the game world isn’t being populated with monsters (or, I assume, NPCs)…but this is still incredible progress. I, for one, never expected to see anyone wander the world of Britannia as presented in Ultima Forever, which always struck me as something of a shame given the love and artistic talent that went into it.
