Comment Counts

A few people have asked me about putting comment counts on articles since the site launched, and I’m happy to say that I’ve found a solution which doesn’t require me to hack up the site theme any. You should now be seeing little red badge icons, listing the number of comments, on each post on the site.

Not to seem ungrateful, ’cause that is helpful, but is there any chance of a date of last edit (or last member edited, or better yet if we have viewed a topic since its last edit), that would be even more awesome. Remembering the number of posts for 10 different threads is a little beyond me at the moment.

You mean the date of the last comment?

Possibly. I’ll look into it. That wasn’t a feature I remember from the WordPress core, but there may be a plugin that handles it.

Great new feature, and good suggestion Thepal.

On the suggestion front, disabling email confirmations for email notifications would be awesome. If you’re like me and subscribe to everything you post to, it becomes a bit tiresome. It would also be nice to have a way to be notified of every post/reply site-wide, sorta like an old-fashioned mailing list.

That used to be an option, and might still be…but whereas before I was using a plugin to support that feature, now it’s something built into the WordPress core. Or Jetpack, which is basically the same thing.

I’ll look for the relevant checkbox, though. Maybe it still exists.
