Podcast Topic(s)

This episode — which explicity tries to avoid any political discussions, since it is likely that many of you listening are in need of a bit of respite from the realm of politics right about now — begins with a very brief discussion about Ultima Online, its recently-announced New Legacy shard, and the coming addition of a new feature to the game: dynamic seasonal changes. This hasn’t been done in too many games, certainly not in many Ultima titles…although it is pointed out that Ultima 5 had changing seasons.

But that topic is not long for this episode, and we soon fall off into a lengthy discussion about Star Trek, how Voyager inspired the remake of Battlestar Galactica, which Trek series is best, and suchlike. And because that wasn’t nerdy enough, we then get into a very detailed discussion about warp theory and how it changed over time within the Trek canon.

Interesting – there were not changing seasons in the original Apple II version of Ultima 5. Was that something added later on the PC/DOS version?

  2. Cambragol says:

I just played through Ultima V Apple II, and DOS, and there is no changing of seasons there.

But hey, we remember things wrong sometimes.
