Epic Mickey score nominated for award

There isn’t anything, in the gaming world, that is an exact analog of the Oscars (which is probably a good thing), but the Hollywood Music In Media Awards are about as close as any game can get to willing an Academy Award for Best Original Score. And Jim Dooley has been nominated for just such an award, for his work on the Epic Mickey score.

He’s up against some pretty stiff competition, mind you, including Martin O’Donnell & Michael Salvatori (Halo: Reach) and Petri Alanko (Alan Wake)…but if the score of Epic Mickey takes any cue from the retro art vibe that the game’s graphics feature, I figure he’s got a reasonable chance of winning. There was a tremendous amount of music and musical talent that went into those old Disney and Warner Bros. cartoons, after all. If a game score can channel some of that frenetic energy…well…
