Because I’ve got one to give to a good home.

If you’ve never played the game before, this is your chance!

  1. I’d love a copy, never have played either one

      You, sir, win!

Just confirm via a comment here that you gave me a legitimate email address (I’m assuming so, since I can see your Gravatar), and I will bounce you the download code for the game tomorrow.

    Wow… that was surprisingly a short competition… thing. 😛

Seems to be quite a few of these going around, not surprisingly those people who bought DA2 are more likely to already have bought ME2.

I got myself a free copy from a friend, and am now seeing how it compares to the first game.

I have to say, I wasn’t a big fan of the first. It was a great adventure, but a poor RPG. I did enjoy the majority of it on the first play through, but I couldn’t stomach a second go.

I never played either of the Mass Effect games, but I did play KotOR back when it came out. Do I need to play the first to enjoy the second one?

I would recommend playing the first one, because it sets up the story that the second game obviously continues.

Strictly speaking, though, you don’t have to play the first to enjoy the second; the stories are set two years apart in the canon timeline, and are basically independent adventures. Choices made in the first game, if you import a character into the second, change minor elements of the second game’s story and environment.

Choices made in both games, however (assuming you import your character from the first game into the second, and then import him into the third when it releases), could have potentially major ramifications in the final entry in the trilogy, which is due out at the end of this year. So if you want to get in on that part of the experience, then you should definitely play the games in order, beginning with the original.

Good marketing for ME3, I guess. Get people to have their friends play ME2 before ME3 comes out.

Gotta work out what to do with my free code now… (would give it to my wife, but she has her own copy of Dragon Age 2, and therefore her own free code)

    “You, sir, win!”

That was f’ing hilarious. Still laughing, damn.

I can confirm that you don’t absolutely need to have played the first game to enjoy the second. I bailed on the first game due to Counselor Troi kicking my butt and then lecturing me about it for too many hours. I was able to jump into the second game with very little plot confusion, and found the game to be a delicious delight.

  8. email address is legit and thanks

Thanks again, and just cause you might find it interesting I’m rebuilding my Ultima collection – http://gomi321.com/ultima/

    • WtF Dragon says:

Yeah, saw that actually. I might throw up a post about it, because it really is a fine collection, and you’ve got a fine collection of images there showcasing some of the great artwork and media design that accompanied the Ultima series.

My wife just tried to give one to her brother, and it didn’t seem to work. I think it is linked to the Bioware/EA account of the Dragon Age II owner…
