So, Dragons and Dragonettes…what's happening?

In the comments to Cael Pearson’s birth announcement, commenter Xyzzy asked if I would consider posting news — like the birth announcement — about any other happenings and doings in the lives of Ultima fans who visit/frequent the site.

Quoth she:

Any chance we can start finding out about *other* events & accomplishments of fellow Dragons?

Frankly, I’d be all for it! To that end, I’ve created a new category, Dragonly Doings, and added Cael’s birth announcement to it. If any of you Dragons and Dragonettes have stuff going on in your life that you’d like to celebrate and share with the Ultima community — graduations, marriages, births, baptisms, bar mitzvahs, First Communions, etc. — then by all means, drop me a line and I’ll gladly write up a post about it.

Well, as of yesterday I finished writing all of my tests and documentation to become a third year medical student. 😛

But seriously, I don’t need my own article. My ego is big enough already. 😛

Hey, that’s cool news, worth posting on. It’ll give me something for tomorrow, f’sure.

  4. Dungy says:

    Nah, no need of that.

  5. I think it’s a great idea. The bonds we form are through knowing each other.

Related to the deprecated tags, you could make a tag tree allowing users to navigate the posts by automatic tag subdivision.

I have been planning to make a tag page, or something of the sort, but haven’t had time to work on it as yet. It’s an idea for today, but I’ve got a few things to cross off the list first.

For years I’ve had this idea of putting up sort of profile pages (more like interviews actually) about currently active Ultima dragons. I remember UltimaDot did a series like that once.

    Typical questions could include:
    1. What do you do today?
    2. What did you do back when you discovered Ultima?
    3. What do you hope to achieve in future?
    etc

You know, a bit more on the human side, rather than the usual “How did you discover Ultima” or “How often do you play Ultima”.

If I get enough expression of interest I could actually go about doing it.

  8. I like the idea–it gives us more of a community feel–there are lots of things that we would find interesting about each other. For example:

    Married-Yes-10 years
    Kids-2 (teenagers)
    Employment-Library of Congress (yeah–*THAT* one)
