“Unknown Realm”: Screenshot Round-up

If you’ve been following Stirring Dragon Games on Twitter/X (at both the main Unknown Realm account linked there, and at this account as well), you’ll probably have seen many of the images that are being referred to in this latest update to the Unknown Realm Kickstarter page. But since it’s been roughly four years since they’ve posted a Kickstarter update, it’s certainly worth noting that the screenshots do exist and have been collected together in one convenient page at the SDG website.

You may also want to have a read of this mini-essay, which was posted to Twitter/X alongside the screenshot featured above. Development on Unknown Realms has been more than a little fraught over the last few years, as the developers and their family have navigated a number of significant personal struggles and other challenges. But it’s good to know that the game is still being worked on.

The gist of that essay is that they did a Kickstarter in order to basically live a life of leisure because “real work” is traumatic for them. But making a video game *is* real work, and I’m not sure they would have raised the money they did if they were that frank about their motivations back in 2016.
