“Ultima VII: Revisited”: Figuring Out Where Objects Go
I’m unable to embed the video here, unfortunately, but over on the Ultima Dragons Facebook Group, Anthony Salter has uploaded a video showcasing his latest work on Ultima VII: Revisited, his port of Ultima 7: The Black Gate to his self-built 3D engine, Geist. There’s a screenshot above, of course, but it doesn’t really do justice.
The video is described thusly:
Work on Ultima VII: Revisited continues! I’m now reading in object locations and putting little stone blocks where objects go. I also added zoom and a minimap to get around the map easier.
It’s well worth clicking through to check out the video; you can see how the world of Ultima 7 is shaping up, and the placeholder blocks Anthony is using give a good idea of what things will look like as they get replaced with actual walls, doors, and whatnot.
You can of course follow the UDIC on Facebook to get these updates from Anthony, and you can find out more about Ultima VII: Revisited at the project’s website.
