Check Out Daemon Master’s Windows Port of “Ultimore: Egypt”

The Ultimore scenarios were a series of unofficial expansions for the Apple ][ version of Ultima 3, produced by Joel Fenton in the mid-1980s. Fenton carefully reverse-engineered the game data for Ultima 3 and released these scenarios as alternative “Side 2” diskettes, which allowed them to be played as part of Ultima 3.

For those that no longer have an Apple ][ available to play games on – it has been around four decades since that was the dominant platform in the PC gaming scene – playing the Ultimore scenarios requires the use of an emulator. It is fortunate, then, that a developer who goes by the online handle of Daemon Master undertook an effort to port Ultimore: Egypt to Windows. (It is unfortunate that I missed that the port had been released, and so am only now reporting on it.)

You can read about the different process that Daemon Master used to port Ultimore: Egypt (as compared to his port of A World Divided) over at the project’s development blog. A download of the Ultimore: Egypt Apple ][ disk image can be found at the Ultimore project entry here at the Codex, and you can grab the Windows port from Daemon Master’s itch.io page (which is also linked from the project entry).
