This has been literal years in coming, but it makes sense to announce it now for two reasons. The first is that I have deactivated the forums here on the Codex; actually, I did so a month or so ago. And since nobody has asked about it, I’m taking that as an indication that there wasn’t much point in maintaining them.

The second reason, though, has to do with the fact that I’ve implemented the same feature at the new Spam Spam Spam Humbug website: a Question and Answer area.

This was actually Dino the Dark Dragon’s brainchild; way back in 2016 he pitched the idea of having a searchable, Stack Overflow-like repository of Ultima-related questions. The Ultima Dragons group on Facebook currently serves this purpose, somewhat, but Dino notes that it lacks searchability, and that the “news feed” format of the group isn’t really conducive to flipping through in search of needed information.

Hence, I’m pleased to take the curtain off of Answers from Smith. There are two parts to it:

• Questions can be asked at this page: ultimacodex.com/questions/
• Meanwhile, the archive/list of questions that people have asked will be viewable here: ultimacodex.com/answers/

Naturally, questions that have been asked can be answered by the community at large. Hopefully, this will be a useful resource for the Ultima fan community, and a helpful source of information for those new to the games as well.
