Star Citizen: $25 Million Raised, $26 Million In Sight

Chris Roberts’ Star Citizen is the most successful crowdfunding project in history (although not the most successful Kickstarter campaign), and shows no signs of slowing its incredible pace of accruing backer funds. It hit the $25 million milsetone last week, which means that the game’s alpha and beta tests will be pushed to wider audiences than had initially been planned.

And a quick glance at its website this morning shows that it is already 72% of the way to the $26 million milestone. At this rate, by 2014, Star Citizen will have crowdfunded more money than it cost to make the Wing Commander movie.
