Eidos Montreal
Apparently, nearly everyone hated the proposed experience system for Thief, so Eidos Montreal dropped it from the game. There’s also a new interview with some of the developers that has been published.
Reviews are beginning to come in for the just-released (except in Europe) Director’s Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and are generally positive in nature. At least one new preview of the game has also been released, along with a gameplay video.
And this is rather amusing: The Guardian was evidently fooled by some of the viral advertising released for DX:HR when it was first coming out.
BioShock Infinite, Irrational Games, and 2K Marin
So…an upcoming DLC for BioShock Infinite will feature a fan-devised vigor as one of the new pieces of content added to the game. Ken Levine evidently took one look at the fan art for the system and decided he had to have it…and thus, it was so.
Oh, and Irrational Games is looking to hire technical artists, by the way.
Sadly, Irrational’s good fortune isn’t being shared by other 2K-controlled studios; 2K Marin had to lay off most of its staff; the studio that developed BioShock 2 and helped make BioShock Infinite is now more or less closed.
And coming back to Ken Levine for a moment…he already has some other ideas in his head, things he’d like to explore post-Infinite.
Might & Magic X
Chris Vanover was the subject of the latest “Meet the Ancients” feature on Limbic Entertainment’s Might & Magic X development blog. And GameBanshee has some new screenshots of the game. There’s also a new preview video of the game, which I gather is based on footage from the Steam Early Access version.
Additionally, the poll results from the recent “favourite class” survey are in.
Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition
Screenshots, anyone? Of course you want screenshots.
Deathfire: Ruins of Nethermore
The Deathfire team has evidently expanded somewhat, a good sign. There are also a couple new screenshots of the game, which showcase some of the recent visual polish that it has been given.
Legend of Grimrock 2
Almost Human have released details about the skill system that the sequel to their dungeon-crawling hit will feature.
Path of Exile
There’s a new interview over at IncGamers, which focuses on Path of Exile’s quite lengthy beta period.
EverQuest Next
There are some new screenshots of EverQuest Next available, which showcase what are ostensibly the results of a few hours worth of time spent building scenery.
In which case: damn.
It has also been revealed that the main focus of EverQuest Next Landmark will be public scene creation (I guess for use in the game once it launches?), although the option to craft private scenes may also be given to players.
Torchlight 2
Apparently there is a really brutal mod for Torchlight 2. Who knew?
