Help Request: Ultima V Lazarus Bug

Jason writes:

I have been scouring the web and am not sure who to contact with this, but I thought I would try here for some possible help! Ultima Lazarus has been an incredible experience (although I am a bit late to the party), but I have run into a huge glitch and road block. Dungeon Destard, the location of Lord British’s scepter, is completely glitchy/bugged while playing. The overhead map on the second level down is patchy and blacked out, and the camera zooms in 100% while in motion and moves uncharacteristically and awkwardly. This odd camera and map behavior has not happened anywhere else in the game for me, just Dungeon Destard! It has rendered me unable to progress in the dungeon, and therefore unable to get the scepter and complete the game. Can anyone assist with this, or perhaps its a known bug with an easy fix? If no one here can offer that assistance, perhaps you could point me in the right direction or provide an email address to someone who could help? Thank you!

Can anyone help him or offer a suggestion as to how he might circumvent this issue?

I played through U5L with a flawless result. I also don’t know the engine as well as others, but I would try the forum first if you have not already:

Have you tried leaving and coming back?

What you’re describing sounds worse that most of the occasional, temporary graphics “glitches” that I’ve experienced in U5L or U6P. I was able to go through Destard in Lazarus without a problem. Definitely visit the forum that AvatarAcid mentioned.

Thank you for the responses thus far. I have tried leaving and coming back to no avail. I have also tried returning to old save games and reentering the dungeon, and that hasn’t worked either! Needless to say, this is very frustrating. I also meant the Amulet in my first post, not the Scepter, so it is definitely Destard. Its also very strange its only on the second level down, as the first level is a-ok. As soon as I descend to the next level the camera zooms in weirdly and the overhead map becomes broken and patchy. ugh

I tried posting in the Project Britannia forums and it seems I am not the only one with a similar issue! Unfortunately no one seems to know how to fix it though. Do you think maybe backing up my saved games and reinstalling the game may help? I just don’t want to lose over 50 hours of game time!
