Back to Roots: NPCs in Skara Brae

In a pair of posts over the weekend, Fearyourself announced that he had begun work on implementing characters in Skara Brae; later that same day, he announced that all the basic NPCs for Skara Brae were implemented. In other words, the guy works fast!

Naturally, he posted a pair of videos demonstrating this, his latest progress:

Work in progress...

...and, done!

As usual, I am awed by the rapid development pace that Fearyourself is able to demonstrate when he sets about implementing a new feature in his Ultima-inspired game engine. You should be too!

I have an idea for these games. The space that you can’t see is black. When you look out the windows there are some space that is shown and some which is black. My idea is that what the black space instead were shown with terrain but dimmed out like in Baldurs Gate and likewise you could see it but not things moving there the same as in Baldurs Gate? I think that would be neat.

    Anyway, the game looks cool.

@Andreas: That is easy to do. If I recall, actually, the game remembered the fog of war and zones you had not seen yet. So I’d have to remember what you’ve visited for the moment and what you haven’t.

That would be a little bit more work but still do-able,
