Updates, Ahoy!

Which is not to say that there are new updates to the site proper as of this moment, unfortunately. Think of my use of “Ahoy!” in the sense of anticipating an imminent event that is about to transpire, instead. My employer is sending me north to the oil sands to do some work for one of our clients there, which means I will be holed up in a hotel for the next ten days or so. Which, in turn, means that I’ll be able to make a whole bunch of updates to the site over the course of the next few evenings, right up until Holy Thursday.

Which ultimately means: more available downloads, and up-to-date news!

In other words, I’m thinking of bringing on a couple of site editors to help with the news gathering and posting. Anyone interested? Drop me a line in the comments.

Nice to read this. I really want to see those new updates and new downloads 🙂

I wouldn’t mind helping, but… for the most part all the news I get about Ultima are either from this site and from Dino’s, so I don’t know if I could help much….

Not to mention my english sucks sometimes 🙂

Well, I can set you up a login even so. Extreme proficiency with English isn’t exactly a huge concern for me, and frankly you come across as completely understandable.

Besides, all you really need to do for a news post is write a one sentence intro, a one or two sentence concluding remark/call to action, and then stuff a quote from the project page in the middle.

And maybe assign a few tags, if you feel like it.

So if you’re okay with it, I’ll set it up using the email address tied to your comment, above.

(And hey, a lot of the time, I get my news from Dino…and he gets his from me sometimes too.)

Well, I think I could try to see if I do some news from time to time.

I don’t guarantee I can be very active, but sometimes I have found some news that I had emailed to either you or dino…. so… maybe instead of that I could just post them here

  3. A: I wouldn’t mind posting the occasional update. I probably would pointedly refrain from anything about TFL out of a fear of editorial bias unless you didn’t mind. But I can certainly post other updates in either event, and I try to be ahead of the curve when it comes to Exult development since that directly impacts TFL 🙂

B: Whats the plugin that has the different sites like twitter and facebook etc on it? It’s neat and I wouldn’t mind using it on the TFL wordpress blog.

@Natreg: I’ll set you up a login. Feel free to continue to email Dino with any news you come across — I encourage information sharing — but also feel free to just post it here instead of mailing me with it.

@Wizardry: I will set you up a login as well. Please post news about TFL when you post an update to the TFL site that you think is newsworthy; I did much the same with Lost Sosaria, and continue to do much the same with Return.

And definitely post Exult news; I find it difficult to keep informed about all the behind-the-scenes work that’s being done to this day on that project.

Also, the sidebar plugin over there (->)…is called “Fixed Social Buttons.” It’s quite nice, both visually and in terms of implementation, although it looks a bit silly on the site’s mobile version — I need to see if I can think of a workaround.

Okay, I’ve set up accounts for the both of you. You should be getting your usernames and passwords (and login information) by email in short order.

Do be sure your spam filters don’t eat it. 😉
