Larian Saturdays

Divinity: Dragon Commander has been the big Larian-related story this week. And rightly so; the new trailer looks pretty awesome. Mind you, a game in which your main avatar is a mighty dragon wearing a time-distorting jetpack should look awesome.

If you’re curious for more details about the game — an RTS that blends in elements from the RPG and tabletop board/card game genres — hit up the newly-launched website. Or read PCGMedia’s lengthy article about their impressions of a preview of the game they received. Oh, and while you’re there, do also read this interview with a refreshingly frank Sven Vincke.

Vincke himself posted some thoughts on controversial issues and self-censorship, the former of which are (it would seem) legion in Dragon Commander. Larian has demonstrated a tendency and willingness to put contentious issues, including sexism and racism, on very frank display in their games, and the political sideshow of Dragon Commander’s campaign mode is evidently chock full of such things.

Again: dragons wearing jetpacks. Need I say more?
