Ultima Forever: BioWare Mythic is Mythic Entertainment Again

The old Mythic Entertainment website got a major facelift a while ago (as we reported), and it turns out that there was a good reason for this. The company most recently known as BioWare Mythic has been re-branded, I suspect as a function of its conversion to a mobile-focused studio, and has taken on its former name once more.

Wow. EA’s branding and labels strategy is an absolute mess (but then, regarding the mess with EA Play/Maxis/The Sims Studio, that’s obvious). It should’ve become Bioware Fairfax (or Bioware Mobile) fully. And if it’s becoming mobile-focused, who’s going to take over Ultima Online’s development? The Austin studio? The main Bioware studio? Or…?

Speaking of which, does this mean Ultima Forever will only be on tablets and phones?

No, most likely not. iPad is the initial launch platform, but there will be a PC release at some point.

Or, at least, that’s the most current answer I have to a question that has been asked by many, and which I’ve brought to Mythic’s attention a couple times now.

Why are there posts across subdomains with generally the same content? That is a serious mistake and should be stopped immediately. I was about to fly off the handle about my comment not being posted before I realized this was a redundant thread.

The Codex aggregates, for now, news from the other subdomains. It’s a manual process; I post a stub article on the Codex linking to a longer article or project entry on one of the subdomains.

Mostly, this is so the Codex RSS feed carries content from those other subdomains; there is currently no sitewide RSS solution.

It may go away soon. I’m working on a couple ideas.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. ’twas a bit confusing.

I wonder if it would be a good idea to disable comments on Codex stub articles so posters have no choice but to be funneled to the main article? It just seems odd to have ongoing conversations in response to identical subjects in different places on what is, essentially, the same web site.

I just noticed this isn’t just Mythic.

“Bioware” Victory seems to have reverted back to Victory Games as well. The official C&C F2P Frosbyte only referes to Victory Games, and so does the latest blog entry about C&C dated October 29th.

Looks like someone a EA decided rebranded everything as Bioware wasn’t such a good idea after all.
