“Age of Singularity”: Development Website & Project Entry
Eric Adam Hovis has announced — on the Ultima Dragons Facebook group — that he has launched an “official devlog” website for Age of Singularity, his Blender and Unity-based attempt to remake Ultima 6.
As you might expect, much of the site’s content is blog posts about the project’s development. There is also a web-based viewer for the project’s overworld map, and large catalogue of images, some for reference and some featuring work being done on the project; a sampling of the latter can be seen at the newly-minted (and long overdue) project entry here at the Codex.
The good Mr. Hovis has re-created most — if not all, at this point — items and scenery objects from Ultima 6, and has put together much of the game’s world (including its dungeons). There is much left to be done in terms of populating the world and re-creating the plot and interactivity of Ultima 6, but there seems to be little cause for concern that Age of Singularity will fail to re-create a very Ultima 6-like look.
If you’d like to follow the project, be sure to subscribe to the developer’s YouTube channel, and also follow the development blog on the project website.
