“The Ultima 6 Remake”: Version 1.2 Released

Hot on the heels of the Exult update that dropped over the weekend, Zygon Dragon has released an update for The Ultima 6 Remake, an Exult mod that re-creates Ultima 6: The False Prophet using the Ultima 7 game engine:

The game now starts with the original gypsy intro – each virtue question will give you the correct attributes as in the original that will affect your starting stats. Combat and Magic will be determined based on your Dex and Int stats, using the ‘rubber band’ formula used for trainers. The intro beyond that has some tweaks to make it look nicer. You can now train magic points with Thariand of Moonglow, in the lycaeum. Some small graphical tweaks such as a younger looking Iolo paper-doll. Dr Yazman aka Ideal Dragon has been awesome enough to make a new sprite for Leodon in Buccaneers Den and will be providing some stuff for the new Ultima 2 mod we are working on. You can check out his twitch stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/dryazman, he often livestreams his graphic creations and it is pretty interesting!

Fixed a ton of bugs in this version – no more duplicate Humility runes, Nicodemus now sells the Invisibility All spell. Dale in Minoc’s gem selling thread is fixed, and you should be able to sell back items to blacksmiths who also sell those items. Bees now have the proper equipment record (at some point a glitch caused the quality to change to 8). You should be able to sell all items back to blacksmiths that also sell those items themselves. Some tweaks to the Michael / Quenton quest to prevent certain hangups. Note – the raft isn’t meant for ocean travel and will break apart if you venture out too far! It will also only hold a certain amount of people. Don’t park a boat on the docks or anything that will disrupt the cutscene or it will delete / fail to trigger.

You can install this version of The Ultima 6 Remake in three different ways. For starters, it is one of the mods that Exult will give you the option of installing when you install the Exult engine. You can also grab the mod files from Zygon’s news post at the project website. And, of course, you can find it at The Ultima 6 Remake’s project entry here at the Codex.
