“For The King II” Announced

If you’ve been following the Ultima fan project scene for a while, you may recall that for a while, there was a project in the works that was attempting to adapt Ultima 7: The Black Gate as a board game. The project shifted direction in 2012 or 2013; Lucifuge Dragon started building a Unity-based version of it around that time. This, in turn, led to the project coming to an end in February of 2014, as Lucifuge and a couple of friends founded IronOak Games and announced the development of For The King…a board game-like video game. For The King was not an Ultima-like in any tangible respect, but at its core, it did incorporate many of the systems and concepts that Lucifuge had devised whilst adapting The Black Gate Board Game for Unity.

For The King was a significant success for IronOak Games; it was ported to various consoles and saw at least one expansion pack released. And if you’ve been following IronOak on Twitter or Facebook, you’ve probably noticed that they recently announced that they are on the cusp of releasing a sequel, For The King II. There’s not a lot of indication as to what the plot of the game will be, apart from that players will be “[battling] against Fahrul’s tyrannical Queen with up to 4 players”. However, the game is available for pre-order on Steam, whereat you can also find several videos and screenshots.
