Cleaning Up Mixed Content & Other Sundry Issues
As some of you likely noticed, I was away from the site for most/all of June and July, an entirely unplanned absence that I’m only now coming out of.
Over the summer, however, various people brought different issues about the site and (primarily) its subdomains to my attention, and I’ve finally gotten around to attempting to fix some of these.
The main issues had to do with missing sidebar images and mixed content errors. The latter, especially, cropped up with downloads on the different subdomains; some of the download entries don’t seem to automatically reassign from HTTP to HTTPS when clicked, so I’ve had to manually edit each entry to use the secure protocol. Thus far, I’ve updated the Ultima 1, Ultima 2, Ultima 3, Ultima 4, and Ultima 5 subdomains — yes, the Lazarus downloads should all work correctly now! — and I’ll continue working through the other subdomains in the days and weeks to come.
So please take this as both my apology for being absent from the site for a goodly while, and for any inconvenience that may have been caused by the mixed content and insecure download links. I know that Chrome users were finding these to be automatically blocked; Edge and Brave (the two browsers I use on the regular) allowed the downloads to proceed, with warnings. I imagine some of these disparities also come down to different users having different security settings defined, but in the end it was still an issue that needed to be corrected.
And also: thank you to everyone who did chime in to report issues that they encountered with the site and subdomains. Please continue to do so, and I’ll continue to squash bugs as they emerge.
