Ultima 5 Shadowlord Reimagined
Greetings Friends! It has been far too long since my last post here in the Ultima Codex. I have been focusing alot of my GoddessBree branding and medical issues. I will be doing an Shroud of the Avatar update post this summer, however I wanted to do this post as soon as possible.
As most of us know, 3D printing has been growing in popularity. Costs of 3D printers (including resin 3D printers) have been lowering, as well as improving every year. With Vtubers growing in popularity, more and more 3D artists have been finding the ability to grow as an independent content creator and artist as well. During all of this covid mess, more and more artists have been doing 3D work, but also improving their skills in that area. With Blender growing in popularity and competing with software like, Maya, more and more people are dabbling with 3D modeling as well.
In my own endeavors to grow my brand and my skill set, as well as wanting to have fun doing 3D printing with my best friend and her fiance, I got back into practicing modeling with Blender. I was inspired by one of the regulars in the UDIC Discord, Yulo Tomorrow. She had made little animated chibi shadowlords. My attempts at a shadowlord in blender did look as good as I would have liked, so I reached out to a fellow gamer and a 3D artist, Joan Ortiz. I had seen his work before, and had wanted to work with him on a project. The goal was a reimagining of the Shadowlords based on some of the original art, but with a twist of my own style and his. I hope you love this model as much as I do. I can’t wait to work with Joan more in the future too. He is well worth the cost for his time and skills. It also helps pay for the always expensive cost for software licenses for tools, like Maya.
The files are great for digital rendering for wallpaper, video, etc, as I had hoped. I temporarily made them available to those in the UDIC discord as well, so we could all play with and test the files in various ways. Slegnor, aka Basara Dragon, 3D printed the Shadowlord successfully. I have included photos below of his wonderful success. As Electronic Arts holds the copyright to Ultima, I want to avoid any legal issues. In that endeavor, I am making all of the files available for FREE here, on the Ultima Codex.
This is a 3D model designed for use for digital rendering and 3D printing. In the zip file you will find not just the 3D model files (including base) but also textures as well. The model has little raised spots for where the glowing eyes are in the texture files. The model is not rigged for motion animation. However you are welcome to rig it yourself, do only animated glowing eyes, 3D print it, use it in fan art, and other similar things. Big shoutout to fellow gamer and 3D Artist, Joan Ortiz, for helping me make this happen. I tried to print in black initially but it didn’t want to play and a few days later I tried again using the yellow I’d printed something else in, and it came out great. Its currently primed and awaiting a coat of black paint
I also did a 2nd print last night in black after tinkering with the printer a bit and this one is much bigger (120mm tall): Image: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wxgw5nuvw86rf0f/2021-06-04%2014.29.09.jpg?dl=0
