“Skald: Against the Black Priory” Now Listed on GOG and Steam

Skald: Against the Black Priory has been in development for a while now; it’s the first game built using the SKALD Roleplaying System developed by SCAPE-IT. Recently, listings for it have appeared on both GOG and Steam, touting a release date of “Summer 2021” (Steam says August 2nd, 2021, more specifically).

However, if you want to get a taste of what Against the Black Priory is like, a short playable prologue is available; you can find that on GOG as well as on Steam.

Delve into a dark fantasy world, full of tragic heroes, violent deaths and Lovecraftian, cosmic horror. Explore an engaging, branching story mixed with rich exploration and crunchy, tactical, turn-based combat that will seem familiar yet innovative to RPG fans, old and new.

Do you have what it takes to lead a company of broken heroes from the tainted shores of Idra to the gates of the Black Priory – and beyond?

What’s in the Prologue?

Delve into the first few hours of gameplay as you explore the cursed isle of Idra. The prologue features about 1-2 hours of gameplay and will allow you to play around with most of the game’s features.

Currently we do not support using the prologue save-file for the main game after launch.

Do consider checking the prologue out; it’s free on both platforms! And if you find it tickles your retrogaming fancy, consider picking up a copy of Against the Black Priory; you can also still back the game on Indiegogo, where a few backer rewards are up for grabs. It’s worth noting, too, that the list price on Indiegogo for a digital copy of the game is €20 EUR, which is about $24.50 USD, or $29 CAD. Expect to see it up on GOG and Steam, then, for around $24.99 USD/$29.99 CAD.
