Corven – Path of Redemption: Combat Details; New Forum; Website Updates
Those of you who follow Corv on Twitter no doubt took note of this tweet a few days ago:

The news post linked in the tweet does indeed pertain to combat, as it is being implemented in Corven. After testing different options, Corv has opted for the use of real-time combat; his reasoning is likewise explained:
After testing 3 different kinds of combat systems I decided that the best fit for Corven will be real time combat after all.
The system will closely resemble combat you know from games like Diablo BUT this does not mean that Corven is suddenly a hack and slash RPG! Nothing changed with Corven’s focus on story, NPC interaction and exploration.
This combat system is simply most fun and least distracting. Grid battles and JRPG style turn based combat takes you out of the game for too long and feels too clunky in the context of what Corven is outside of combat.
There’s no video or animated GIF of the combat system in action…yet. However, a trailer for Corven is evidently in production, and we can expect to see some examples of the system showcased therein.
In other news, there’s now a forum at the Lycantic website, for those of you who still do the online forum thing. Corv has also added a somewhat minimalist support page to the site; PayPal donations to support the development of Corven are being accepted there in advance of the game’s Kickstarter campaign (which we can expect to see later this year).
While I prefer turn-based combat combat, I appreciate that they took the time to consider it and make the best decision in the context of the other aspects of the game.
