The Ultima 6 Remake: A Lot of Work Done

The team working on The Ultima 6 Remake — an Exult-based attempt to re-create Ultima 6 in the Ultima 7 engine — recently posted a couple of updates to their long-dormant Facebook page:

Hoping to have a site update within the next week or so, we’ve done a LOT of work lately. Added some new graphics, fixing bugs and trying to make sure the entire plot can be played through. I think aside from the stuff at the very end, it can be played to the gargoyle world and pretty much up to the shrine of Singularity which just needs to be coded. In theory it should work but I’ve came across some conversation bugs I needed to fix to keep things moving along :O I’ve been busy with school lately but have been getting in work on the mod when I have some spare time. The goal is to get this wrapped up by the end of summer…. hopefully! There’s something else we’re dying to work on…

It’s about the sort of news you’d expect, but it’s good to know that the project is being worked on:

Still plugging away at bug fixing… turns out there were quite a few playthrough stopping bugs! Going to get the plot playable to the Shrine of Singularity then code the endgame. Can’t wait till my classes are over and I have more time, until then I’m just trying to get some work done here and there and not have a mental breakdown over my computer science classes

One notable bit of news we can pull out of the update is that they’ve got a goodly amount of Ultima 6’s main plot implemented; the Shrine of Singularity is visited toward the end of the game’s third and final act.
