For The King: Releasing on April 19th

Big news from IronOak GamesFor The King, the game which grew out of their idea for a board game based on Ultima 7: The Black Gate, is on the verge of leaving Early Access on Steam. In fact, its official release date has been set…for this coming Thursday:

We’re super excited for this massive update and welcome all of you to try out the new Frost Adventure. It has a totally different vibe to it and is great for both new and seasoned adventurers. We’ve been having a blast play testing it and can’t wait for you to check it out along with all the other polish and quality of life updates.

If you’ve already downloaded FTK on Steam then after a small update on the 19th you’ll receive all the new content automatically, there’s no need to do anything.

For those of you who selected GOG as their primary platform in the BackerKit survey, we’ll be sending out GOG keys sometime on the 19th via BackerKit. Check for an email from BackerKit or use your existing link to access your keys. We’ll be cancelling the Steam keys associated with these accounts so you’ll only have the one key, so please don’t give your GOG key away. If you’ve changed your mind and want the Steam key instead, now’s the time to let us know. We won’t cancel your Steam key immediately, so you’ll have some time to decide. 🙂

We’ll also be sending out keys for the exclusive Kickstarter unlocks sometime soon after we launch. These will be delivered via BackerKit, so keep an eye out for an email from BackerKit telling you you have new goodies. We’ll try to get these to you as soon as possible. After you enter the key into Steam or GOG it will automatically unlock the Moose Helmet, Kickstarter Backpack, and Undead Player Skins.

As usual, if you have a spare minute please help us spread the word on the 19th to ensure a great launch day. Any and all support would be extremely appreciated.

It’s great to see this game reach this point; not only does it look fantastic (I do love that they’ve kept a very board game-like aesthetic with it), but it does have some Ultima in its background as well.
