Ultima IX Redemption: The 2015 Fan Project of the Year!

I have to say, I was more than a bit surprised by how this year’s vote went, and in particular because of the rather surprising upset/come-from-behind victory that Ultima IX: Redemption was able to pull off. Until about the 25th of January, it seemed that the vote would be a tight race between Nuvie and The Dark Unknown, and I (for one) fully expected Goldenflame Dragon’s project to capture the prize. But then the Titans of Ether mobilized their fan base, and within about a day Redemption had moved into the second place spot…and then, subsequently, into the top spot.

And that’s a neat thing to learn, too: Redemption has a substantial fan base who were more than willing to step up and represent the project.

Here, then, were the results at the closing of the poll:

Congratulations — again, for this is their second win (they also captured the prize in 2013) — to the Ultima IX: Redemption team. Here’s hoping that we’ll see more impressive news and developments from this long-running project over the course of 2016…maybe even something playable!

If this was a horse race it would have been really exciting to watch in real-time! Just goes to show you that Ultima fans may not be as predictable as one may think. 🙂 We should all thank them for the commitment and passion they bring to fans of this genre of games. Keep it up!

I am amazed how many people voted and of course extremely happy about how many of them are Redemption fans 🙂 Thanks WtF Dragon for keeping the Ultima community going with your site!

All those projects are great in my book. They (and of course ultimacodex) are keeping Ultima alive.
