Crowfall: 13,000 Backers; VR Stretch Goal Announced
Exciting news from ArtCraft Entertainment: with the contribution of the 13,000th backer to the ongoing Crowfall Kickstarter campaign, all backers will receive a free month of the game’s VIP mode…service…thing.
And then there’s this:
Additionally, we’re adding a new backer stretch goal this morning!
Since the beginning, we have we really (really!) wanted to add VR support for Crowfall. We think that our vision — the immersive environments, the seasonal effects and the visceral, sweaty-palms-oh-dear-lord-whats-around-the-next-corner survival nature of our gameplay — is a perfect fit for virtual reality.
Thanks to Unity 5’s native support of Oculus (and we’re hoping Vive at some point!) we are excited to say that the possibility is in our grasp — so we’re including it as a stretch goal. Help us find 15,000 backers and we’ll make it happen!
Or, in illustrated form:
As well, ArtCraft also released a work-in-progress video of the male Knight Archetype, showcasing several of said model’s animations. There’s also a second video — click on through to see it — which is basically a time lapse of the creation of this hilarious piece of art:
Those of you with a thing for vector art will probably want to check the aforementioned video out.
At any rate, there are six days left in Crowfall’s Kickstarter campaign, which has raised $1,254,524 — and has 13,140 backers — as of this writing. It might be a near thing, that VR stretch goal…but I’ll admit that I, at least, find the prospect of navigating a combat-rich, fully destructible environment to be rather exhilarating.
