Ananias Roguelike: Version 1.49 Released
Slashing Dragon has released version 1.49 of Ananias…or Ananias Roguelike as he now seems to be calling it.
Major changes in this version include the implementation of maximum range values for ranged and thrown weapons; these weapons will also now be subject to line-of-sight blocking by terrain and walls. As well, top-level combat magic is now once again available only to players using the Arcane character class.
And, of course, there were various UI changes made.
Ananias can be played online or on Android devices. And don’t forget: Slashing Dragon is currently crowdfunding enhanced artwork for the game; if you want to see Ananias‘ artwork undergo a substantial improvement, do consider contributing.
I kinda like the “microfunding” idea Slashie’s using here. Rather than making a full-time job out of running a monster fundraising campaign he’s raising funds in bits and pieces. It would be interesting to see an indie-funding endeavor whereby approved devs would receive a “salary” derived from donations to the fund itself. Something like a charity, but how much money a dev gets would be based on how hard they work and how excited people are about what they’re working on. Devs could earn a “reputation” score over time based on project updates, releases, demo videos, etc., which would affect the funding distribution.
Anyway, keep up the good work. It’s cool to see this project steadily growing in complexity and maturity, all the while uncoupled from funding. It shows he has heart and is dead serious about getting the game done.
