Elderlands: New Beta Patch; GM Troubles
As the latest update to the Elderlands website expains, its ongoing beta has been updated to version 1.00.015. It brings a number of changes to the game, including several significant bug fixes and numerous interface adjustments. As well, a dungeon called the Lower Crypt of Ildor is now open, and some new high-level creatures now have special rare loot on them.
Oh, and the Mage class’ Explosive Touch ability has been nerfed. Some Cleric abilities are also now available.
Meanwhile, on the Elderlands Facebook page, Jason Ely informs the community about a GM who was briefly hired on and…subsequently proved to be very problematic:
Recently we discovered that a newly added GM had violated the GM code of conduct and engaged in some activity on Land of War server which is not acceptable.
Violations consisted of the following:
- Spawning Creatures with high drop tables for their friends.
- Using GM teleport powers to take friends back to their bodies.
- Creating high end items that are not yet in the game loot tables and handing them out to friends.
- Attempting to sell high end items to other players via their in game Alt player.

It’s good that the Elderlands team were able to respond to this issue as quickly as they were. And they are overhauling their recruitment process and tools to prevent such abuses in the future.
