Shroud of the Avatar – Hangout of the Avatar – Nature to Nutrition Aftermath
Good Afternoon Friends and Avatars! For those of you who got to watch today’s roundtable and Hangout of the Avatar with Lord British, himself, I hope you enjoyed yourselves. I unfortunately had the blight of a day job that kept me from watching it live. However, because of information I knew as well as the joy of the internet, I was able to catch up on those details and the video on YouTube.
I do have a few bits of news that I wish to highlight. Lord British did cover the information he did in fairly deep detail for such a short hangout so please watch it at your convenience. Don’t forget all these details about food and crafting is not final. Remember the “Don’t Lawyer Me, Bro!”
So in no particular order, here are the major bits of news that I took note of:
1) Official Announcements of some of the newest recipients of the “Order of the New Britannian Empire”. Most importantly our very own Kenneth Kully was a recipient of one of them. Having interacted with Kenneth for years, he very much deserves this for all his hard work. Ultima Aiera became Ultima Codex, and as many of you know, this site is and has been a central hub for Ultima and Origin Systems news and information for a very long time.
2) Reminder that all crafting disciplines will be interconnected in various ways. Food will also be interconnected into various aspects of our characters, such as: health, focus, speed, illness, etc.
3) The dev team doesn’t want to over-complicate the crafting system. Too many ingredients as well would reduce not only fun, but also the value of cooking. More ingredients also add more levels of items in game for such details as if a container is empty or full, is the cow ready to be milked or has already been milked, etc. Especially since food will have a shelf life that vary based on the item in which they will decay over time until they spoil.
4) There will be the ability for the team to add recipes to the game over time. Variations of items eventually, and other great products…. In fact, ppl are already posting in-game and real-life ones to the forums – Check it out!
5) Lastly, like emotes there will be some recipes that you have to learn from other players or NPCs. This helps get the economy involved even more, but also adds variety to having classes of recipes: learn-able and discoverable…
Check out the video and the SotA Forums as always. Would love to hear what people think about Richard’s design document as well the things discussed.
