Slashland has uploaded a short, not-quite-one-minute trailer for Ananias, his browser-based roguelike for mobile devices, as part of his ongoing effort to crowdfund the polishing and completion of the game.
As befits a trailer, this one shows off some gameplay footage, giving the viewer a decent idea of how the game plays. It ends by urging pledge donations, of course; do consider backing the game if you haven’t yet.
Well done in that it shows a ton of gameplay. One problem though is that I found myself focusing exclusively on the gameplay and not reading the information displayed at the bottom. Not sure what the solution is to that. Maybe have the information solo, following a pattern of gameplay, info, gameplay, info, etc. To keep the info screens pleasing you could have a background graphic for each one, either of a dimmed/blurred screenshot or a typical RPG screen background of parchment, marble, etc. If you have enough character sketches (out-of-game stuff) those could be used as well.
