Jocksitter Dragon Has Some Incredible Vintage Computer Games For Sale on eBay (Including Akalabeth)

Jocksitter Dragon has been an invaluable resource in recent years; he has been one of the lead “investigators” (if you will) of e.g. fake Akalabeth auctions that have cropped up on eBay. And now, he has a few choice items up for sale on eBay of his own. And what a collection; there are some great vintage pieces available…including a few classic Origin and Richard Garriott games.

For example, there’s Caverns of Callisto for the Atari 400/800, still sealed in its packaging. And there’s this “Demon” edition of Akalabeth.

A somewhat more interesting item is this California Pacific version of Ultima, which comes with an extra “Player Master” label given to Jocksitter by Richard Garriott himself (evidently as the result of a trade).

But the most incredible piece in the collection, I think, is this “double label” copy of Akalabeth. While not one of the original run of Akalabeth diskettes, it is a Richard Garriott-made copy of the game; the “double label” moniker stems from the fact that Garriott placed an Akalabeth label over the diskette label already in place.

What makes this item truly special, however, is the inclusion of those green stickers. That is the original sheet of stickers that Richard Garriott used to number the first run of Akalabeth diskettes. Not unlike the extra Ultima 1 label above, these were given to Jocksitter by Richard Garriott himself, again as the result of some sort of trade. They are, however, the remaining siblings of the original numbering stickers used on the very first copies of Akalabeth.

I don’t know why Jocksitter is parting with these items; they are genuine treasures, all…worthy additions to any Ultima collection.
