Larian Saturdays…And More

So I missed posting a Wednesday update this week, and as such I’m lumping in the content from Wednesday with the weekend Larian Studios content. Because there really isn’t much to report from Larian Studios this week…or last week, for that matter.

Divinity: Dragon Commander

Game Industry gave Dragon Commander a glowing — perfect, actually — review.

Larian Studios in general

Sven Vincke introduced us to his FUME rating system, which he uses to evaluate games he plays.

ArcheAge

I don’t know what’s happening in the scene depicted here…something about flying and bear suits.

Path of Exile

Path of Exile has been released on Steam and via its official website. It has been garnering respectable review scores, and a good deal of praise in general.

That said, for as much as the game seems to impress, it also has a few drawbacks.

Irrational Games

Ken Levine was nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Golden Joysticks, which he graciously accepted.

The first part of the Burial at Sea DLC for BioShock Infinite will be released on November 12th. This DLC, you will hopefully recall, will see players return to the setting of the first two BioShock games, albeit earlier in time and before the place got all messed up.

Irrational Games is also looking to hire an AI programmer, by the way.

EverQuest Next

Beta signups for EverQuest Next Landmark are now open (European sign-ups are here). If you get accepted to the Landmark beta, you’ll earn a slot in the actual EQN beta, so…supplicate well! If you haven’t already, check out this video of its crafting tools in action.

Also, the game may allow players to join multiple guilds.

Eidos Montreal

Deus Ex: Human Revolution‘s “Director’s Cut” release happened late last month; you can grab it now on Steam. It has been earing pretty high marks in most reviews, and the fact that it’s available as a $10 upgrade for previous versions of the game is a welcome thing as well.

There’s also a neat Thief feature at PC Gamer that is worth checking out. As well, hit up this retrospective of the original Deus Ex for a nice stroll down memory lane.

Deathfire: Ruins of Nethermore

Guido Henkel’s brand new RPG idea is now on Kickstarter, and has raised (as of this writing) $40,873 toward its $390,000 goal, with 28 days to go. There is some neat concept art and work-in-progress images from the game in its current state; click on through to check that all out.

Overhaul Games

A fairly massive patch/update for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition was released recently, along with some new screenshots and music samples from the upcoming re-release of Baldur’s Gate 2.

Might & Magic X

There’s a new Q&A post from the team at Limbic Entertainment, as well as a look at how the map notes feature will work in the new Might & Magic game.

There’s also a survey question up inquiring about how difficult the Early Access version of the game was, to those that played it. And…actually, there’s another Q&A post, this one concerning game balance.

38 Studios

Evidently, there is so much interest in the Amalur IP, the lawyer for the state of Rhode Island is looking to delay the auction of those assets.

Yeah, I’m not sure why either.
