Sanctimonia: Inflamed Gear, Smoke, and Another Monthly Report
Kevin Fishburne has been hard at work on Sanctimonia in recent weeks. At the beginning of the month, he released yet another monthly progress report, which (per usual) is chock full of all manner of development details. More recently, he also made an interesting discovery about the game’s code in its present state:
Just discovered #Sanctimonia currently stands at 30,086 lines of code. That's approximately 24 lines per day for the last 3.5 years. Crazy.

His main focus, development-wise, over the last few weeks has been lighting-related. More specifically, he has focused on inflamed player gear and the behaviours associated therewith:
Player gear may now be inflamed and torches grabbed, moved and dropped like any other PWO with working lighting. ffmpeg probs; no video yet.

Inflamed player gear and block PWOs (torches, currently) now emit wind-blown, dissipating smoke wisps.

There’s even a video to show off these developments:
He has also added a new system to the game:
Initial, primitive player "jumping" implemented tonight. I know…jumping. Don't worry; it will be as realistic and nearly useless as in RL.

And along the way, he found time to tighten some code:
Massive client and server frame rate increase after rewriting two "wrapping" procedures. Thanks to the #GAMBAS mailing list and J. Lahtinen.

Did I say, already, that Kevin has been hard at work? Yes, yes I did.
