Another screenshot from Wasteland 2 was released a while ago, and Venture Beat got a preview of the game (which also includes a lot of comments from Brian Fargo). Fargo himself also gave an interview to The A List, in which he held forth on the power of indie game development in this era. He also chatted with Rock, Paper, Shotgun! about the dark days of being under a publisher.
It was also revealed, recently, that the original Wasteland will be coming to Steam and GOG; the project’s most recent Kickstarter update explains that inXile were able to negotiate a favourable arrangement in this regard with EA. (The update also features some great new screenshots of the game in action.)
Finally, it was recently revealed that Wasteland 2 will address issues of gender and discrimination in a fairly unique way.
The Project Eternity team have, true to form, remained fairly active on Formspring and other social media sites, fielding what questions they can about that game’s development. A new screenshot of the game was released; RPS notes that it’s very faithful to the concept art for the same scene.
Speaking of Obsidian…South Park: The Stick of Truth could still see a 2013 release date. Whether that happens or not, the game’s SDCC panel was certainly amusing.
And finally, do check out RPS’ great interview with members of the Torment: Tides of Numenera team on matters of progress, death, and story in games. (This editorial at Medium.com might also be worth looking at.) As well, the Numenera tabletop RPG (the source setting for Torment) has been released.
