Ex-Interplay Fridays
Interesting news broke last week that Obsidian Entertainment had teamed up with Allods Team to work on the upcoming Russian MMORPG Skyforge. This probably isn’t the next-gen project that Obsidian Entertainment is ostensibly working on, and in fact seems to be a fairly recent arrangement. Allods has evidently been working on the game for a few years already; Obsidian seem to be coming aboard to help get it out the door. Or…well, something like that. It isn’t really clear yet.
Feargus Urquhart also had some interesting comments at a GDC Russia discussion panel, essentially stating that AAA games aren’t relevant for the game development community as a whole.
He also sat down for this interview:
It’s overdubbed in Russian, but Ultima 4 seems to be important somehow.
And it looks like some of the developers at Obsidian were, per usual, fairly active on Formspring over the last few days.
The Torment: Tides of Numenera development team held a Q&A session recently. Brian Fargo also tweeted another piece of Torment concept art. PC Gamer, meanwhile, decided to give Planescape: Torment a replay.
GamingBolt, meanwhile, interviewed Chris Keenan from the Wasteland 2 development team.
