Bethesda Thursdays
The latest DLC for Dishonored, entitled The Knife of Dunwall, went on sale on Steam earlier this week. Early reviews seem mostly positive, although some are complaining that it feels too short, or perhaps truncated.
And of course, the DLC has prompted yet another comparison go BioShock Infinite. I suppose these two games are forever doomed to be held up against one another.
At any rate, if you’re curious about Knife of Dunwall, here’s a look at some gameplay, and here’s a new trailer. You can also go here for some details about the new powers you’ll find at your disposal in the DLC.
Bethesda Softworks was teasing us a couple of days ago, releasing a pair of short videos via their Vine account that showed images of barbed wire and spinning records and burning sunflowers. Today saw the release of a third, equally nonsensical video. Bethesda have also said that they are NOT teasing Fallout 4…so this could be a new IP we are looking at. Then again, it could be a game that they’ll be publishing, rather than developing. NeoGAF is running a rumour suggesting it will be Zwei, Shinji Mikami’s recently-announced survival-horror title.
Bethesda also announced that they will produce no more DLC for Skyrim, and that the main development team will be moving on to a new project. This, effectively, means that Skyrim is done, and will receive only maintenance updates in the future. Kotaku, for their part, have already said goodbye.
And here, for your viewing pleasure, is twenty minutes of The Elder Scrolls Online gameplay.
There have been some interesting fan-made things that have come to light as well over the last week, which concern Bethesda games. This mod for Crusader Kings 2 is a fine adaptation of the world of The Elder Scrolls, for example, and this Fallout-opoly creation is just astounding.
As well, don’t miss this interview about the unexpected success that Bethesda has enjoyed, and do not fail to seethe at the assertion contained therein that used games are a problem for the gaming industry.
