Bethesda Thursdays
An update for Dishonored was released this week, correcting numerous bugs in the game. As well, for those of you playing the Steam version of the game, the achievements for the upcoming Knife of Dunwall DLC should now be visible.
Arkane’s Harvey Smith also released his first novel recently, evidently a somewhat autobiographical work…and a very dark, brutal work at that.
Speaking of achievements…there’s a new mod for Skyrim that adds over one hundred new ones to the game, rewarding the player with in-game perks as they are crossed off. Skyrim update 1.9 has also made its way onto console versions of the game…Legendary difficulty for everyone!
Oh, and GameBanshee reviewed the Dragonborn DLC recently. And OXM UK has a podcast interview with some of Skyrim’s developers.
Bethesda, for their part, plan to make a lot of noise later this year, evidently announcing some new titles (among other things?). They also spoke out recently in defense of day-one DLC, labeling those who criticize the phenomenon as being ignorant of the game development process.
Zenimax Online gave us a look at ogres…pardon me, Ogrim in The Elder Scrolls Online recently. And Zenimax proper just filed for an extension of the Prey 2 trademark; could that be some of the “noise” Bethesda plans to make later this year?
Oh, dear. So Bethesda are going to start doing the Day 1 DLC crap? Ick.
Pete’s point is valid though. The way they should phrase it is: “Ok, we have two choices. Either we sell Day 1 DLC or we fire a bunch of the team because we don’t have anything more for them to work on. Which will it be?”
I can be okay for Day 1 DLC is the content is good and most specifcally if this is REALLY the kind of content Pete Hines is talking about. More often than not though, it’s not and it can be content already on the disc (ie. I’m looking at you Risen 2) so you can’t blame people for putting everything in the same bag.
Announcing some new titles? Here’s hoping one of them is Fallout 4 🙂
That’s a safe bet I think.
