Cryptic Studios have begun posting developer diaries for Neverwinter to MMORPG.com, beginning with a look at the character customization options the game will offer. A new trailer for Neverwinter was also released recently.
Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition has been released for iPad, and despite some controversy about how the game has apparently been nerfed (although apparently not in the view of some), it continues to review rather well.
GiantBomb published a “quick look” at the re-release, in case you are curious what it looks and plays like.
Impossible Studios’ upcoming game, Infinity Blade: Dungeons, will be the focus of a talk at GDC 2013. Impossible, you all may recall, was formed by Epic Games from what was left of Big Huge Games after the collapse of 38 Studios.
Oh, and both Runic Games’ Torchlight 2 and Almost Human’s Legend of Grimrock have been nominated in PC Gamer’s “Game of the Year” awards. And Warhorse Studios published a video showing some of the next-gen visuals they’ve been able to create, albeit not specifically for their as-yet unannounced game. Still, they can definitely do some impressive things with CryEngine 3.
Right…now for the big news, which concerns BioShock Infinite.
PC Gamer got a look at the graphics options the PC version of the game will feature, which are about what one would expect for a game of its type. It was also announced that BioShock Infinite would be delayed by about one month, making its release date March 26th. A number of media outlets got “hands on” looks at the game, including Joystiq, Polygon, Kotaku, Forbes, and PC Gamer — who split their comments into what they loved and didn’t love. Irrational Games also whipped up a spiffy new trailer for the game, which previewed at the recent Video Game Awards (VGAs).
Ken Levine also teased the possibility of a BioShock port for the PlayStation Vita…if, in his words, “the stars align”.
Kotaku has a fun little quiz up that challenges you to guess things that BioShock Infinite’s developers have listed as influences, from a variety of silly-seeming choices.
All in all, it sounds like Irrational’s upcoming game is going to be a damned fine one, with an interesting ending, dynamic characters and interesting philosophy, an imaginative designer who won’t settle for success, a game that tackles social issues and even changed Irrational’s corporate culture during its development.
Except…the cover art apparently sucks, and this is apparently a big controversy. So much so that Ken Levine even went so far as to tell BioShock fans that the cover isn’t meant for them, but for “uninformed” “frat guys”. Which sounds like a steaming pile of whatsit, but whatever. Apparently, alternate covers will be made available for download, and the cover itself will be reversible (a fan poll is currently up to vote on what the flipside cover should be).
Because apparently there’s nothing more important in the world to argue about.
