GOG’s End of the World Sale Is On Now

The hysteria over the supposed Mayan Apocalypse is indeed a laughing matter, and GOG have added their own interesting spin to the humourous derision that the paranoia over the Mayan calendar has caused in certain circles:

We don’t really know if the Mayans were right
Will the 21st be the Earth’s final night?
If it really is, we know we’d want to be
Spending our last hours enjoyably

The end of the world, and the bundles we bring
Are a wondrous package–an incredible thing
All the daily deals for the whole month today shine
We’ve even brought ones from the future in asynchronous time

Of all of the days of the year 2012
This is the one for gamers just like yourselves
To pick up some games before the world ends
And spend your last day having fun times with friends

If the garish banner at the top of the site wasn’t enough indication, you can expect to find — for the next half-day or so — the Ultima series on steep discount at GOG, as well as over a hundred other games. Some are available as solo offerings, and others are on sale in bundles…including bundles that GOG had previously put up as part of the DRM-free Holiday Sale that they have going on right now. So if you missed nabbing FTL or the Quest for Glory games when they went on sale just recently…GOG has you covered.

And hey…if the world does end on the 22nd, GOG have set the sale up to make sure that you’ll have the majority of the 20th and all of the 21st to play your newly-acquired (or freshly re-acquired, as the case may be) classic games. They’re thoughtful like that.

Perhaps more excitingly, they’ve just FINALLY released the expansion packs for the Wing Commander games.
