Obsidian Fridays
Obsidian’s Project Eternity Kickstarter campaign closed earlier this week having raised over $4.1 million in funding. That’s quite a lot of money, and in fact is the biggest “take” for a computer game-themed Kickstarter to date. Obsidian achieved every stretch goal (even the last minute, optimization-focused one) they set for themselves, and are consequently in a very good position where the development of Eternity is concerned. Good-natured people that they are, they’ve also leveraged some of their good fortune, via the Kick it Forward initiative, to help other projects reach their own funding goals.
Josh Sawyer sat down with GameBanshee for an interview about Project Eternity (and Icewind Dale 3, oddly enough), and a few of the team at Obsidian also sat down with PC Gamer for a live chat (a transcript of which is available). Chris Avellone and Justin Bell, meanwhile, sat down with RPGFan for an interview about Project Eternity’s scope, among other things.
Avellone also expressed concern that Kickstarter fatigue may be setting in for many people.
Also, Sorcerer’s Place has collected every tidbit of information they could find about Project Eternity into one convenient place.
Brian Fargo posted an update to the Wasteland 2 blog concerning the moral dilemmas that the player will face in that game. He also sat down with VG247 for an interview, covering such topics as turn-based combat and character perma-death.
