More Great Ultima Things Coming to GOG Soon? (Updated!)
Jeff Skalski, the Ultima Franchise Producer with Bioware Mythic, posted the following tidbit to his Twitter account today.
Working with GOG on some Ultima stuff. Stay tuned! #UltimaForever

Does this mean Ultima IX, or perhaps the Worlds of Ultima series will soon be finding their way to GOG? I’m hoping this means Savage Empire and Martian Dreams might soon be finding their way online. They were great games in their own right, and today are incredibly difficult to find.
The First Age of Update: An interesting update today by Paul Barnett on his twitter account today.
Very excited, we have GOG love incoming… It’s only taken us forever to get to this point, go go ultra resilience and being bloody minded!

Seems like whatever is happening will be happening soon. I wonder what in particular required all that “being bloody minded”.
Well it’s like there is much Ultima left that could come to GOGs. It’s either Ultima IX of the Worlds of Ultima.
Please please make WoUs happen!
Id like to see the Worlds series myself. I was too busy with Ultima 6, Kings Quest 6, and Wizardry 7 at the time to ever pick those up and play em..
Heh…wow. That was like my exact playlist at about the same time.
monotremata, thou hast stolen mine avatar. Not Avatar, but avatar. Now I must revert to mine backup, which is unfortunately a giant penis. Damn thee…
I hope it is the Wolrds Series! :happydance:
It’s entirely possible that a new Ultima game could be released under GoG, especially one for which they don’t want to spend a few million on marketing, distribution and all the other bells and whistles that push product.
Another meaningless tweet.
Sorry for the pessimism. I just don’t find tweets that do little more than drop a name to be newsworthy. I know Ultima doesn’t exactly have much news to speak of, but sometimes I get the feeling if anyone noteworthy Tweeted “Ultima! :D” it’d get its own article.
The formula is something like this in GAMBAS:
Public Function CalculateArticleProbability(SeriesNeglect As Single, FanNostalgia As Single, BullshitTweets As Byte) As Single
..If BullshitTweets = 0 Then
….Return 1
..Else
….Return SeriesNeglect * FanNostalgia / BullshitTweets
..EndIf
End
