Bethesda Thursdays
GameInformer continues to lead the charge on The Elder Scrolls Online coverage, with faction profiles and a handy comparison guide that looks at the features of the upcoming Elder Scrolls MMORPG as compared to features offered by other big-name MMOs of today. Meanwhile, Matt Firor explains why it’s going to be a “modern” MMO, whatever that means.
Meanwhile, in Skyrim news, there is a rumour floating around that the upcoming DLC for the game may allow players to visit Morrowind. Which…hey…cool. Everyone loves seeing more of the world, and evidently it is possible already to see Morrowind from places in and around Skyrim.
Also, it would appear that Zenimax and Bethesda weren’t kidding about copyrighting the hell out of all things Skyrim-related, and have slapped the creator of the Dragon Shout iOS app (which features a hand-drawn map of Skyrim‘s game world, among other features) with a request that he remove his app from Apple’s App Store. Strangely, they didn’t approach Apple directly, and evidently the notice did not contain a formal cease and desist warning.
And, of course, the Skyrim parodies continue to happen, now with added meta!
Speaking of Zenimax being being assholes about trademark infringement, whatever happened to their dispute with Notch of Minecraft fame (“Scrolls” being at issue)?
Also, no player housing? Guess 486’s and Pentiums trademarked “cool MMO gameplay” and Bethesda can’t use it. A shame.
I’m not sure I’d call them assholes. They do need to protect their IPs. That Dragon Shout app sounds like something that no company could allow to happen.
I’m very sure. See here:

Dragon Shout is an obvious reference to the game, but I’m still not sure if they really have grounds unless the term is actually trademarked. Not that I would know, not being an attorney and all.
The Morrowind rumour is old, and I thought they’d debunked it anyway.
I thought the current rumours for Dawnguard were that it’s vampire-orientated.
Well, if so, then the article writer I’m linking to hadn’t heard. That story isn’t more than a week old.
