Legend of Grimrock Released!
The news from GOG.com this morning (among other sites) is that Almost Human’s Legend of Grimrock has been released!
The first batch of reviews aggregated by GameBanshee are, predictably, all glowing, with every review praising the game’s design and warning about its difficulty. It would seem that Almost Human has turned in a great little hardcore grinder of a dungeon-crawler.
I’m loving this game. I forgot how much fun getting lost and dying can be! XD
Shit, someone should use that game engine with assets to import Ultima data files. What if you made outside/overworld maps showing sky and trees? The engine and art look fantastic!

Reminds me of Might & Magic (the first one), which I loved.
They are working on a full map editor with scripting capabilities:
You may not be able to import the UU data files, but you might be able to recreate a lot of the UU.
So tempted to buy this… but if it won’t run in Wine, then I’m out of luck. Not even going to bother asking for a Mac client. 🙂
There was a hardware test from a few weeks ago – Atomic Gamer and a few others still have it available for download that you might be able to use as a test.
But there will be a Mac (and iOS) version available according to the official site.
If you can’t wait, PortingTeam.com has released a Wine wrapper:

I played it at a friend’s house yesterday. If EA wanted to revive the Underworld series, they should just contract with these guys. It may resemble DM more than the Underworld games, but it just had a really good atmosphere to it. It’s really odd how you don’t realize you’ve missed a genre for a while until somebody comes along and does something with it.
