Nuvie: Official Release v0.3 (Updated: Now With Downloads!)
Eric Fry has just posted the third official release (version 0.3, that is) of Nuvie, his Exult-like cross-platform front-end/engine for Ultima 6 (and, maybe one day, Savage Empire and Martian Dreams as well). It includes a lot of improvements to the introduction sequence and menus, and improvements to transportation.
The introduction/character creation sequences are the highlight of this release. Both intro sequences have been completed along with the gypsy character creation and the main menu logic.

That’s a lot of improvements, and I’m glad to see the implementation of the main menu and introduction sequence. The Ultima VI introduction is probably my favorite of the entire Ultima series.
The First Age of Update [WtFD]: I’ve gone ahead and updated both the main downloads and snapshot downloads at the Nuvie project entry here on the site.
This is so awesome!
This is great to see Nuvie making such progress likely, now it feels like seeing Nuvie to completion might actually happen 😀
I know it seems silly, but for me, the addition of the introduction sequence and menus turn Nuvie into a game, and not just an overzealous map viewer. Even though it’s such a small part programming wise.
Oh I agree. The day Exult added the intro and menu screens, that’s when it really felt real to me!
Beautiful. Here’s to another cross-platform Ultima engine recreation (tip thy mug).
I think it’s awesome to see those kind of updates and fixes. It shows that a lot of little things are getting done that will help the overall expercience! Keep up the good work!
