The Ultimate Ultima Collector's Guide (Updated)
Stephen Emond has started a Rockethub project hub for his mammoth 800-page book, Ultima – The Ultimate Collector’s Guide.
This mammoth 800 page tribute to the Ultima series contains highly detailed information and pictures for 502 main releases, 275 books & collectibles, and 143 miscellaneous items. A grand total of 920 items from 23 countries across 6 continents!
In addition to all the regular item entries you will find comprehensive variation guides for each game. Essentially they provide side-by-side comparisons that illustrate the differences between different maps, boxes, books, discs, etc. There’s even a little “history & lore” in there for flavoring.
EVERY Ultima game is covered in exhaustive detail…
As an added bonus there is a checklist covering the long-running Ultima Online spin-off series. It weighs in at 165 main releases, 267 books & collectibles, and 68 miscellaneous items for a grand total of another 500 items! Just because I care, you’ll even get a mini ‘Media Guide’ section listing 412 Ultima magazine articles from around the world. I didn’t name it the ‘Ultimate’ guide just to be ironic 😉
Donations of $50 or more to the project (I gather he’s taking donations to help offset publishing costs and suchlike) will receive a copy of the actual guide, and larger donations will receive additional content and material as well. However, he’s grateful for any donation, and in fact has only just reached his goal of $1,000 in donations, although he’s still taking donations as, well, every little bit helps:
The project is nearly complete with only updates and polishing left to complete. To overcome my final hurdles though I could really use YOUR help.
That’s where ‘crowdfunding’ comes in. Every donation you make helps me achieve my goal. In return you get more than just a warm fuzzy feeling and a few extra virtue points though… That’s right, you earn fantastic REWARDS too!
Click on over and check his work out. The guide sounds epic in scope and coverage, and one can only begin to imagine what sorts of odds and ends, trinkets and tokens it contains details about.
Update: Stephen has posted an image of the platinum 2007 edition of the guide, which you can obtain a copy of by donating $500 or more to the project.
Amazing. I think I will have to pony up for a copy of the guide.
Thanks Deckard, took quite a few years to get to this point but it’s been a real labor of love 🙂
Yeah looks well worth the wait. My copy is on order (Andrew Fuller aka Clan Dragon)
