Ultima 4 Released on Good Old Games

PC Gamer didn’t quite forecast its release date correctly, but they got the price right! That’s right, Dragons and Dragonettes: Ultima 4 is now officially available at Good Old Games, for free!

As was the case for the recent release of Ultimas 1 through 3, I’ll be posting a few bits of celebratory content to the site during the course of the day.

Also: If you haven’t yet registered an account at Good Old Games, please consider doing so through one of the GOG.com-related banners on the site; Ultima Aiera is now a Good Old Games affiliate, and you will support the site and its operation by your purchases of these and other timeless classics.

Does that mean that once we’re logged on via this site, we don’t have to go to GOG via this site to buy games for the support ?

Or every time we have to ?

I’m honestly not sure how it works. I know that if you click on the links and register at GOG (as in: new account), it tracks that and I get commission off of any purchase you make thereafter, even if you don’t visit here first (apparently).

Not sure what happens for people with existing accounts that click here and buy games when they arrive at GOG.

Probably same but only for the games they buy after they enter using one of links you provide. It’s possible that any purchase will count until they close the browser (ie. you enter the site using one of Aiera links, browse site and decide to buy different game Aiera links to but WtFD will still get rewarded for pointing person their way.) That’s at least how GamersGate affilate program works (I know I can point people directly to GG front page (with link containing my affilate id obviously) and I get rewarded from any purchase they make while there. I don’t have to link specific game page to receive reward from purchases.

Ok, so I have a gog account already… assuming I can link through from your banners and give you credit for games I buy, what credit do you get if I “buy” a free game?

(wish I had known this when I bought Ultima Underworld I+II)

LameBrain: I wasn’t an affiliate when UW1 & 2 were released, so don’t feel bad about that.

If you buy a free game, I suppose I’d get commission on the purchase price, or…well, zero. I’m not sure what would happen if you bought anything else. GOG’s explanation of things leaves much to be desired as far as information goes.
